After launching its first affordable calling tablet at the MWC last month, Nexus 7 maker, ASUS has now started taking pre-orders for its Fonepad in its native market. This development clearly indicate that as per the company promise, the tablet should be reaching other markets in the coming weeks.
The launch will fall in line with reports of the ASUS Fonepad calling tablet's expected availability in the global market. The tablet will reportedly be priced at Rs 20,000.

The report also states that after launching the tablet in international markets, the Fonepad could probably make its way to the Indian market by April, if not May. ASUS FonePad has a similar look and feel as Memo Pad 7 but the addition of calling support and in-built 3G usage makes FonePad a better viable product. The tablet sports a 17.7-cm (7-inch) IPS display with a 1280×800 pixel resolution and runs Android 4.1 aka Jelly Bean operating system.
The tablet is powered by a 1.2 GHz processor, coupled with 1 GB RAM. The tablet also packs 3 MP rear camera and 1.2 MP front camera with 8/16 GB internal storage options available and microSD card slot. ASUS has loaded the Fonepad with a 4,270 mAh battery.
