MTN to launch cloud services

MTN Business will in a few days launch a pilot of its MTN Cloud bouquet of services and become the first mobile network operator in Ghana to adopt the Cloud Service Brokerage model.

An innovation in the IT space, cloud computing involves the delivery of hosted services over the Internet and enables users to access services remotely, anywhere, at any time.

The Cloud Service Brokerage model centralizes remote access to data and application services, where a third party, in this case MTN, acts as the single point of contact for customers. This allows companies to avoid upfront infrastructure costs, and focus instead on their core businesses. It improves efficiencies and eases the administrative burden for companies, where instead of dealing with multiple service providers, they can deal with one provider.

MTN has identified the high cost of IT software and hardware as a challenge for small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Ghana. Like their larger corporate counterparts, SMEs would benefit from the increased productivity and optimization of business operations, but is constrained by capital limitations and limited IT expertise. The MTN Cloud service will provide cost-effective and easy-to-use solutions that will enable SMEs to minimise costs and improve productivity and efficiency.

Companies will enjoy enormous benefits from MTN Cloud services, including the flexibility provided by the ability of staff to access files and data anywhere, even when they're working remotely or outside office hours.

Companies who sign up to the service will have access to a variety of MTN Cloud services that will be announced on the day of the launch.
