Following are the top 10 Ghanaian owned websites based on Alexa Ranking as at June 12, 2012.
Alexa provides information about websites including top sites, Internet traffic stats and metrics, related links, online ranking, online pedigree etc.
This ranking considers only Ghanaian-owned websites, and not foreign websites like Facebook,Google.com.gh, Google.com, Yahoo.com and youtube.com.

1. Myjoyonline: Myjoyonline is Ghana’s top website. It is a major resource site for Ghanaians home and abroad. It streams radio programmes from about six radio sations, namely Joy FM, Adom FM, Hitz FM, Nykira FM, Asempa FM, and Luv FM.
People visit the site more than any other Ghanaian-owned sites in the country. It ranks 6 in Ghana behind Facebook, Google.com.gh, Google.com, Yahoo.com and youtube.com, which are all foreign sites. Myjoyonline overtook Ghanaweb to occupy this position after improving content and making it more timely. It also redesigned its website and invested in human resource.
2. Ghanaweb: Ghanaweb used to be the undisputed top news website in Ghana, but times have changed. The site has been overtaken by myjoyonline. The lack of radio streaming is one factor that has accounted for this, but more importantly, Ghanaweb’s inability to provide timely content has been its undoing.
Nonetheless, It is still the second most visited Ghanaian website at number 8 behind twitter, Facebook, Google.com.gh, Google.com, Yahoo.com and youtube.com.
3. Peacefmonline.com: Peacefmonline is a major resource site for Ghanaians home and abroad. The site streams programmes from at least three radio stations – Peace FM, Okay FM and Hello FM. It is the 3rd most visited Ghanaian website, and ranks 12 in the country.
4. Citifmonline: Citifmonline, a major resource site, is the 4th most visited Ghanaian site.
5. Ghananewslink: This site, a news portal, is the 5th most visited Ghanaian site.
6. SpyGhana: Spyghana, a major site for all news about Ghana as well as international news, ranks 8 in the country. It is currently the fastest growing site in Ghana.
7. BusinessGhana.com: is the 7th most visited Ghanaian site.
8. Web4Africa.net: This site offers professional web design, web applications development, web hosting, domain name registration, and other E-Commerce solutions, to clients worldwide. It’s registered in Ghana, and is the 6th most visited Ghanaian site.
9. Multitvworld.com: This is corporate website for Multi TV, a satellite TV provider in Ghana. It also offers daily news about Ghana. It ranks 10 in Ghana.
10. Ghanaleak.net: This site thrives mainly on pornographic content, especially leaked pictures and sex tapes of individuals and sometimes celebrities. It ranks 9 in the country.
